What is your favorite piece of classical music?
September 5, 2008
Not much stuff to do in Strings right now. I recommend going on youtube and listening to some music to boost hearing abilities during playing. If it works for me, it WILL work for you. If you concentrate.
The Poll is on Classical works of music. They are all very famous pieces of music.
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: A great piece. Clears the mind very well and gets you calm. However, if you cannot handle mood swings(however good they are), it's not the piece for you.
Suite No. 3: In my opinion, maybe the best consistent relaxing piece in the history of music. "Air on the G" is a song with little to no difference in the entire song and doesn't jump like Canon(see Canon in D).
Minuet: The most basic of songs and one of my favorites when I was a beginner. This was the highest piece of music I yearned to play when I was young. All of the rest of these songs I didn't even know. Nice piece. Better in the full version.
Canon in D: This song is very powerful no matter what. I don't even care it's wedding music. It's just a brilliant piece of music. This is the first "great" that I was able to play to a certain extent. Even if you don't know the title, you should know the theme. The climax is I think, the greatest part of song in existence. Brilliant piece, however the only flaw is that it changes very fast and without warning. Even though I would consider it a flaw, personally, I don't. I love the swings it brings dynamics to it.
Spring: The first movement is a classic. If you're playing a solo part, prepare for a bombardment. The solo is extremely difficult and is very captivating. A great piece.
Symphony No. 5: I don't care about Symphony No. 9. Symphony No. 5 contains the best movement of all of Beethoven's Symphonies. Very strong and very fiery. Can change quickly.
Symphony No. 25: What? What is this? This is the piece where I changed from beginner to intermediate. A strong piece, or the opening which is very famous. Syncapation it's called and you can find it in most of Mozart's pieces.
Symphony No. 40: This symphony is second to No. 25 in power. It's strong, and it's motivating. Not as good as the 25, but still very capable of drawing votes.
Symphony No. 35: You're all like, what's up with all of these Mozart symphonies? This one is the hardest. It may seem like a jumble of noise but it's incredibly hard.
The Beautiful Blue Danube: The Beautiful what? What is this, your girlfriend? No, if you look up this on youtube, you'll find a bunch of results. Arguably the most famous of Johann Strauss's famous waltzes. As a romantic composer, he composed different styles from Baroque and Classical which I put mostly on this list. Beethoven was considered the last major classical composer. With his death, came the Romantic Period.
So, tell me what you think, and vote in the poll. I daresay, I will be surprised.
